i was cracked open

piece by piece

my eggshell came apart

falling to the ground beside me

i grew and shrank at once

at the sight of things

i could not believe

i went one way

then the other

illusion bled itself out

in drops

then bursts

then joined the pieces of shell

together weeping

i looked

i mourned

then flew away
