I’m sorry, ma’am, but I didn’t know we were here to be human.
Oh, wait! Did I say something wrong?
Let’s talk about forgiveness
I knew a boy, maybe he was 5
who forgave his dog for biting him
He didn’t want his mom to get rid of her!
“She didn’t mean it!” he kept saying
He taught me about forgiveness
I knew a girl
who, at 14 years old
was sent away to live alone
Is that even legal?
To this day they are best friends
The then 14-year-old
and the one who sent her away
Let’s talk about forgiveness
I knew a woman
who stood in court
to defend the man
that murdered her daughter
Let me talk to you about forgiveness
“To err is human, to forgive, divine.” Alexander Pope’s 1711 poem “An essay on criticism.” (It is a poem in spite of the title)
